Jalan Jalan Cari Makan - Hinava Penampang

Hinava or sushi is one of the most popular local delicacies of the Kadazandusun community in Sabah. Almost all Kadazandusun households know how to prepare the hinava. The hinava making is quite simple although the taste might differ from one person to other depending on the amount of ingredients used to make it. Below is the basic preparation and the required ingredients of making hinava from the Kadazandusun in Penampang.














Hinava Sada' (Tuna Hinava with Lime Juice)

Ingredients:
600g - 'Tenggiri'/tuna (finely sliced)
200g - bitter gourd (sliced into thin strips)
200g - ginger (sliced into thin strips)
100g - shallots (sliced into thin strips)
8 pcs - bird chillies (sliced into thin strips)
125ml - lime juice
4 tbsp - dried grated 'Bambangan' seed
salt to taste

Method:
In a bowl, mix sliced fish meat with salt and lime juice. Marinate for 10 minutes before adding in the rest of the ingredients. toss well and serve.
